Here are several coast live oaks I treated six years ago with fire mimicry, which involved clearing, thinning and pruning the trees, removing the mosses and lichens from the trunks, applying limewash to the trunks, fertilizing the soils with mineral-rich natural fertilizers and compost tea, and in one case performing a major stem canker surgery. These oaks can speak for themselves on the efficacy of these methods.

Your take on the recovery of the Valey Oaks on Plaskett, after the 2026 Plaskett Fire would be fascinating. My experience is that even if hallowed out by fire, in just under a year the grandmother oaks sends out new shoots.
